Floral mosaic wins tops prize for two Abbotsford students

Pair competed at Tulips of the Valley event in Chilliwack

Two art students from W. J. Mouat Secondary won first place overall in the recent Tulips of the Valley Hyacinth Mosaic Competition.

Harman Bhullar and Kyra Petty created a hyacinth mosaic celebrating the year of the pig.

The flowers were picked off the stalk, and each flower was individually pinned in place. The pair used just over 2,000 pins.

Bhullar and Petty – both Grade 11 students – competed against students from several Fraser Valley high schools to win the $500 grand prize.

The competition was part of the annual Tulips of the Valley event held in Chilliwack.
