Event at West Oaks Mall supports Canuck Place in Abbotsford

London Drugs and Canuck Place will take over the entrance of West Oaks Mall on Saturday, Sept. 24 with a family event featuring face painting, games, a Lego build and refreshments.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. in front of London Drugs. At 3 p.m., there will be a presentation from London Drugs of a $150,000 cheque for the art therapy room at the new Canuck Place in Abbotsford.

The facility will be located adjacent to Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Marshall Road as part of the Campus of Care project that also includes the Abbotsford Hospice Society's adult hospice and Matthew's House, a respite facility for children with severe disabilities.

Also featured at the family event is the Operation Family Identification program, which gives parents a permanent record of their child's photo, fingerprints, weight and height in a package that can be used in case of an emergency. There is no cost to parents.

Robin Sather of Brickville Design Works will begin building a Lego design at noon and finish his creation at about 3 p.m.

West Oaks Mall is located at 32700 South Fraser Way.
