The annual Envision Financial Run for Water takes place in Abbotsford on Sunday, May 31.
This year’s event raises money for a clean-water project in Yella, Ethiopia, where villagers often have to walk eight hours to access drinkable water.
The funds raised here will go toward laying 19 kilometres of piping, three spring caps and 46 water points in Yella.
The Run for Water offers three route options, all leaving from Mill Lake Park on Bevan Avenue. The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 10 km run at 8:30 and the 5 km fun run at 10 a.m.
Road closures begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday and will re-open to traffic at 10:30 a.m.
An ultra marathon takes place the previous day, covering 55 km from Chilliwack to Abbotsford.

Race packages will be distributed May 29 (2 to 8 p.m.) and 30 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Envision Athletics Centre at the University of the Fraser Valley.
Last year’s event drew about 4,500 runners, who raised about $250,000.
