There is no better way to enjoy the dog days of summer than to take your pet for a swim.

Aldergrove animal trainer Bonnie Judd has opened her swimming pool for both pet owners and their dogs to share a refreshing swim together in these blazing hot days.

"I have one of the few pools that allows people to swim with their dogs," says Judd.

"It can be stressful for them if their owners are not in the pool, and I'll help teach them how to swim too."

The pool, which is four and a half feet deep, has a ramp leading into the pool from the 40 foot long deck to make it easier for dogs to get in and out of the pool.

"They can run and play on the deck and there is a picnic area for everyone to relax in too," says Judd.

"It's refreshing and cool for dogs — and owners — it gives them a good experience and helps develop a better relationship. Like taking a child to the ballet, it builds a bond."

A private hour in the pool costs $100, however, Judd says a group of four dogs and their owners can share the pool for $25 each.

The pool temperature is about 80 degrees — "I haven't needed to use the solar blanket in this weather" — and the water is filtered and treated, and staff sweep out loose dog hairs with a skimmer.

It is located on Judd's rural property in south Aldergrove and bookings can be made on-line by going to www.k9funpool.com and linking to their calendar. Payments can be made with Paypal or on arrival at the facility.

Judd also has a Facebook page at k9 Fun Pool Club.

The pool operates from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
