Development Centre to be recipient of 2014 Berrybeat funds

The annual event takes place in downtown Abbotsford on July 5 and 6.

The recipient of funds to be raised from the rock-climbing wall at the upcoming Berrybeat Festival has been announced.

Revenue from the 2014 Project Climbing Centre Porta-Wall will go to the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre (FVCDC).

Each year at the Berrybeat Festival, the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association (ADBA) funds the wall, with all of the proceeds going to a worthy cause.

Surjit Atwal, community outreach coordinator for MLA Darryl Plecas, worked with the ADBA to create a partnership with the FVCDC for this year’s event.

The Berrybeat Festival takes place July 5 and 6 in the Historic Downtown core. Participants can scale the rock-climbing wall for a minimum $3 donation to FVCDC.

The development centre provides programs and services to children with developmental needs and disabilities and to their families.

It currently has a team of 105 professionals and serves more than 2,300 children and youth each year.
