Mandy Alamwala, an Abbotsford native and dental student attending Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, has been accepted into the Society’s Leadership Institute.

The Leadership Institute is a two-year program designed to provide dentists with tools and training to become effective civic leaders in their communities, non-profit organizations, or professional associations.

Selected participants attend four sessions with well-known facilitators and speakers and also a team-building event.

Following completion of the training sessions, participants serve on a year-long ad hoc committee that is focused on an issue affecting dentistry.

Alamwala is highly involved in organized dentistry and is one of 11 trustees for the American Student Dental Association representing the five New England dental schools.

She also serves on numerous councils and committees for the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry Massachusetts. For the past two years, she has earned dean’s list status at Tufts School of Dental Medicine.
