The Children’s Oral Care Centre recently announced their sponsorship of two office spaces in Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford, which will be used to provide pediatric palliative consultations.
Locally owned and operated with an Abbotsford-based dentistry team, The Children’s Oral Care Centre has pledged to support two office spaces in the Abbotsford facility.
Canuck Place has allocated these two offices to meet the needs of the ever growing role played by Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide pediatric palliative consultations in the region. This need for these support services continues to increase as these specialized nurses are called upon regularly to provide consults at the hospice, in hospital and community health care settings and in family homes.
“Supporting the community, and especially children, is very important to me and my family,” said Dr. Phoebe Tsang of the Children’s Oral Care Centre.
“These offices will be important in delivering care to children who are on the Canuck Place program and I’m pleased to be able to play a role.”
Currently in phase two of a four-phase plan, the facility provides community-centred services to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, including visits by doctors, nurses, and counsellors in hospitals and homes.
According to Canuck Place CEO Margaret McNeil, 46 per cent of children and families registered on the Canuck Place program live in the Fraser Valley health region.
The Children’s Oral Care Centre is also sponsoring the Sevenoaks Lego Creative Challenge Sept. 26 to 27 to support Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
