The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) presents an event titled a Day of Medical Enlightenment on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The free event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre (36035 North Parallel Rd.) and is open to the public.

The day includes presentations by medical professionals from many of the various departments within the hospital and health care centres in Abbotsford.

There will also be opportunities to interact hands on with equipment and to ask questions about the topics covered.

The goal of the event is to educate people on new advancements in the medical field and, in particular, their hospital.

It gives people a chance to interact with doctors in an informal setting as opposed to only talking with them during their appointments.

Some of the speakers and presentations include: Dr. Sanjay Patel on Taking the Fear out of Going to Sleep for Your Operation, Dr. Phillip Shaw on A Day in the Life of the Emergency Room Doctor, and Dr. Shavi Gill on New Advances in Diabetic Care.
