Tickets are now on sale for the 15th annual Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards, taking place March 2 at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre in Abbotsford.

The event recognizes the best practices of organizations and individuals that embrace the diversity in the community.

The evening features an ethnically diverse buffet dinner, local entertainment, and remarks from guest speaker Talli Osborne and emcee Sonia Beeksma, traffic anchor and segment reporter for CTV Morning Live in Vancouver.

Osborne was born with some physical challenges but was raised in the belief that she could do anything she set her mind to. This determined attitude is exactly how she lives her life.

She loves changing perceptions and attitudes and sharing her stories with others.

The event is presented by Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) in partnership with Mission Community Services, Chilliwack Community Services and the Langley New Directions English Language School.

Each year, the awards receive nominations for businesses, programs, initiatives, schools and leaders that work towards building an inclusive community.

Nominees from Abbotsford, Mission, Langley and Chilliwack that exemplify the spirit of cultural diversity will be celebrated.

Concepts of cultural diversity include age, gender, abilities, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion and socio-economic background.

Doors for the Fraser Valley Cultural Diversity Awards open at 6 p.m. Early-bird tickets are available until Feb. 9. For ticket prices and information, visit abbotsfordcommunityservices.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the ACS office at 2420 Montrose Ave. or by contacting Patricia Driessen at 604-308-5673.
