Time is running out to help the Grade 5 students at Clearbrook elementary gather 1,000 boxes of cereal.

The cereal drive is their way of supporting the many unhoused youth in Abbotsford, who use the services at Cyrus Centre. They are getting closer to their lofty goal, but are in a bit of time crunch.

Cyrus Centre staff are going to the school on Wednesday to collect the donation and also chat with the students about the work that they do in the community.

They began their cereal drive in earnest in May and are still striving for their goal. One of the Grade 5 teachers, Teresa Seo, has been doing some outreach into the community to share the good news about the students’ efforts.

They even set up a collection centre at the Khalsa Diwan Sikh Gurdwara on May 14. They were going to wrap up the campaign on May 26 but have extended it to June 7 to meet their mark.

Donations of cereal can be dropped off at the school, at 3614 Clearbrook Road.
