Communitas Supportive Care Society invites the public to share a cup of Starbucks coffee and make a difference to families in need.

The annual Coffee Morning fundraiser for Matthew’s House takes place Wednesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Communitas, 2776 Bourquin Crescent West.

Music will be provided by Noel Schneider, also known as DJ Book it.

Matthew’s House, a respite home for families whose children live with complex care needs, is operated by Communitas.

It costs almost a million dollars annually to keep the home operating, most of which comes from donations and fundraisers.

Now in its third year, Coffee Morning has raised thousands of dollars, and participation has also increased with school groups, businesses and individuals already signed up to host their own Coffee Mornings this year.

Alan Cavin, the resource development coordinator for Matthew’s House, is encouraged by the community support.

“We hope to raise $20,000 this year and I believe we can achieve that,” he said.
