CFUW is open to women of all ages

The Canadian Federation of University Women meets monthly in Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is open to women of all ages and races and provides leadership and support to women around the world through advocacy, awards and bursaries.

The Abbotsford group annually gives a bursary to a mature student returning to university to continue her education.

The group meets monthly and welcomes new members who are interested in making a difference through education, advocacy and action. Each month a speaker is invited to make a presentation on a current topic.

CFUW offers a forum for educated women to meet for friendship, networking, involvement and service to the community. There are also several interest groups such as book circles, bridge lessons, gourmet dinners and cultural topics that get together outside of the regular meetings.

The Abbotsford chapter of the CFUW celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

CFUW was founded in 1919 and has 10,000 members in 122 clubs across Canada. It is volunteer, non-profit organization affiliated with the international body – The International Federation of University Women (IFUW), which has a special consultative status at the United Nations and is represented at the Sectoral Committee of Education at the Canadian sub-committee for UNESCO.
