CanWest Horticulture Show features workshops and booths

The annual CanWest Horticulture Show takes place Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27 at Tradex in Abbotsford.

The show features more than 30 educational sessions and 300 booths featuring the latest products and services in the horticultural industry.

Dr. Julian Dunster and Dr. Drew Zwart are headlining the Urban Foresters Symposium, while Dr. Youbin Zheng shares his latest research on container fertilization.

Sean Hogan reveals his latest research on new climate-appropriate plants for the West Coast, while Ball Horticulture and Proven Winners have their experts sharing advice with retailers.

The Bug Lady, Suzanne Wainwright-Evans, makes her debut at CanWest this year, and well-known writer for Green Profit Magazine, Ellen Wells, makes the starting lineup with a session on trends.

Award-winning landscape designers – including Sean James, Karen Chapman, Susan Morrison and Mark van der Zalm – provide inspiring designs and approaches for all landscapers.

Keynote speaker Ciscoe Morris is presented on Thursday from 3:15 to 4 p.m. to reminisce about his life in gardens and what he has learned from gardening in the Pacific Northwest.

There is also a tailgate party on each day of the show, featuring live blues music to complement the show theme Roots and Blues. Performers include Juno Award winner Kenny “The Blues Man” Wayne and international artist Karla Saw.
