Cafe Nights celebrate cultural diversity

Organized through Abbotsford Community Services for people ages 18 to 30.

The Diversity Education and Resource Services program at Abbotsford Community Services has organized a series of Cafe Nights for young adults.

The cafes for ages 18 to 30 celebrate the diversity of the community and work towards greater understanding and cultural harmony.

Participants at the events play board games, drink coffee, and end the night with dialogues that range from dissecting the word “respect” to individual insights on praying.

The next Cafe Night is on Tuesday, June 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. at SippChai Cafe, #11 - 31205 Maclure Rd. Contact Brad Young for details at 604-859-7681 (ext. 270).

Other upcoming events include a Brahma Kumari meditation event on Saturday, June 7. This takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services' location at Apollo Centre Ice, 3600 Townline Rd.

A worship tour of the Islamic Centre (1980 Salton Rd.) takes place on Friday, June 13 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The Muslim community will welcome visitors into their space of worship, right before Ramadan begins, to observe their Friday afternoon prayer, and learn about Islam.

These events are part of Project Connection, funded by Inspirit Foundation’s Community Impact Grant. Everyone is welcome, and pre-registration is preferred at 604-859-7681 (ext. 270).
