Bridging the Gap session helps families

The Mayday Club Youth Choir performed as part of the Bridging the Gap session on March 4 in Abbotsford.

A session call Bridging the Gap: Transitioning from Youth Services to Adulthood took place on Saturday, March 4 in Abbotsford, with a successful turnout.

This is a yearly event put on by the Abbotsford Special Needs Advisory Committee.

The event ran from 1 to 4 pm. at Abbotsford Middle School (33231 Bevan Ave.).

Participants learned about local community organizations that assist families with transitioning.

They were also treated to a performance by the Mayday Club Youth Choir.

Organizations supporting youth with special needs and/or mental health challenges were on hand.

Food was donated by the Sumas Way Save-On-Foods, and tea/coffee were donated by Starbucks West Oaks.

The event was also supported by the Abbotsford school district, Communitas  Supportive Care, and Community Living BC.

The next Bridging the Gap Event will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018.
