Book Bombers place third in final round of Reading Link Challenge

The Blue Jay Book Bombers from Abbotsford placed third on Wednesday in the fourth and final event in the Reading Link Challenge.

The Blue Jay Book Bombers placed third on Wednesday, May 3 in the final round of the Reading Link Challenge.

The team of six Grade 4/5 students from Blue Jay Elementary in Abbotsford went up against squads from Coquitlam, North Vancouver City, Port Moody and Surrey.

They qualified for the competition after first winning at the school level and then advancing through the district and regional levels.

The Readling Link Challenge is hosted by the Fraser Valley Regional Library and other Lower Mainland library systems.

The program is run as a series of quiz/trivia challenges with questions based on six pre-selected books.

The Grand Challenge event was held at the Surrey campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

The Book Bombers were made up of Nimrat Hare, Puneet Khaira, Danveer Ahuja, Paramdeep Brar, Keerat Sidhu and Govind Mann.

Their teacher/coaches were Evelyn Van Egmond and Tammy Tran.

A total of 160 schools took part in the Reading Link Challenge and comprised 812 teams.
