The board has been selected for the BC Games in Abbotsford.

The 2016 Abbotsford BC Summer Games board of directors is in place, led by president Steve Carlton and vice-president Stan Petersen. Fourteen additional community leaders have also stepped up to take on various areas of responsibility.

A nominating committee made recommendations for membership to council, who approved the board on Monday. The board will be supported through the planning process by the BC Games Society.

Abbotsford expects to welcome more than 3,500 participants in 18 sports. The games will kick off with an opening ceremony on July 21, 2016; include three days of competition between July 22 and 24; and conclude with a closing ceremony on July 24. Venues for sport competitions and special events will be announced as details are finalized.

The board will consist of Carlton, Petersen, Kelly Plastow, Hank Kroeker, Mary Boonstra, Kevin Harman, Mike Dicks, Janet Barrie, Todd Marshall, Andrew Franklin, Tanya Curtis, Sylvia Peary, Jules Tessarolo, Tim Barrett, Bev Viger and Ron Gregoire.
