The recent 19th annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive collected just under 200 bags of donations in Abbotsford, representing a 62 per cent increase over last year.
The event ran Nov. 18-25 and invited the public to drop off blankets, coats, gloves, hoodies and other items to real estate offices in participating communities.
The donations in Abbotsford went to Cyrus Centre for at-risk youth and to 5 and 2 Ministries, which, among its tasks, provides support to the homeless.
Across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, enough items were collected to help more than 20,000 people.
