A total of 14 teams in Abbotsford pedalled the Heart and Stroke Big Bike on Tuesday to raise money for awareness and research.

The annual event, sponsored by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, gets its name from the 30-seat bicycle that teams ride through 200 communities across Canada. More riders will pedal Abbotsford streets on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

They leave from and return to the parking lot of Sevenoaks Shopping Centre after a short trip around city streets.

The fundraising goal for Abbotsford has been set at $34,000, but the final tally is not yet in.
