The 32nd annual Berrybeat Festival drew about 40,000 people to Abbotsford’s downtown core over the weekend.

Tina Stewart, executive director of the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association, said the event was a great success, entertaining people of all ages.

Stewart said people came from across the Lower Mainland, but Berrybeat also attracts Abbotsford residents who don’t frequent downtown.

She said the area has gone through major transformations over the last decade and the Berrybeat festival shows people what a “beautiful, walkable area it has become.

“By being in our downtown, people discover how wonderful Historic Downtown Abbotsford is.”

Berrybeat featured a variety of entertainment, vendors and food carts.

The festival took place on Montrose and Essendene avenues on Saturday and Sunday.
