Lepp Farm Market held its inaugural barbecue competition on Saturday.
The event, called Smoke on the Highway, featured 13 teams of professional barbecuers battling it out in four categories including chicken, ribs, tri-tip beef and the special category – corn.
Grills were set up in the Lepp parking lot, just off Highway 11 and judges sampled all the cuisine to eventually decide a winner.
More than $5,000 in total prizes was up for grabs, with the top prize set at $2,000.
This year's winner was a team from Surrey called Stacked Rack Barbecue.
Proceeds from Smoke on the Highway go to Matthew’s House in Abbotsford, a home that will provide long and short term respite for children with severe disabilities and their families.
