A program at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) is raising money for the maternity unit.

The Baby Balloon program, launched in December 2014, features a mural adorned with ribbons and balloons. Local artist Dean Lauze painted the mural with funding by Jack and Sielinde Konning in memory of their daughter.

Balloons are inscribed with the baby’s name, birth date and weight, and displayed on painted ribbons.

“It is our wish to have the ribbons extend around the corner, through the maternity ward and into pediatrics,” said Liz Harris, executive director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).

Balloons come in four colors – blue, pink, green or yellow. The small balloon is a donation of $150 and the large balloon is a donation of $250.

Money raised from the Baby Balloons goes towards the needs of the maternity and neonatal intensive care unit.

For more information, visit fvhcf.ca/babyballoon and email the information to be put on the balloon to info@fvhcf.ca or call 1-877-661-0314.

The FVHCF raises funds for vital equipment and programs funded or endorsed by Fraser Health. They serve Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.
