The auxiliary to the Abbotsford Regional Hospital is celebrating 100 years of service.

Auxiliary president Maggie Gardiner says the last year and a half has been a challenge with all the COVID-19 restrictions affecting planned events, regular meetings and fundraising.

The gift shop located in the hospital atrium had to close for most of 2020 and suffered from low revenue.

“This greatly affects how much equipment and programs the auxiliary can fund for the hospital,” Gardiner said.

She said Christmas merchandise will soon be displayed, and the auxiliary is expecting sales to pick up. She said the hospital’s wish list is quite long for much-needed equipment.

Gardiner urges those going to the hospital to visit or for a test or appointment to visit the gift shop Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
