Anti-poverty event at University of the Fraser Valley

The session is hosted by Students for a BC Poverty Reduction Plan

A group of social work students from the University of the Fraser Valley  are organizing an event to raise awareness about the high rates of poverty in B.C.

Students for a BC Poverty Reduction Plan will host speakers on the issue on Friday, March 13 at 9:30 a.m. at UFV’s University House. The group says that B.C. should join other provinces that have adopted plans to reduce poverty and ultimately eliminate homelessness.

Speakers include Adrienne Montani, provincial co-ordinator for First Call BC; Coun. Dave Loewen, who chairs the city’s homelessness committee; BC NDP social development critic Michelle Mungall; and John Aldag, the federal Liberal candidate for Cloverdale/Langley.

Questions for speakers can be submitted at povertyreductionUFV@gmail.com.
