Bloom – The Abbotsford Tulip Festival returns for another season starting on April 9.

Now in its third year, Bloom – located at 36737 North Parallel Rd. in Abbotsford – has gained international attention for its array of endless tulip varieties and stunning country scenery.

The festival, which runs daily until the blooms last (about five weeks), attracts an average of 90,000 visitors.

More than 2.5 million tulips are in bloom at various stages throughout the festival, and visitors are able to walk through 10 acres of fields.

Highlights of this year’s festival include: u-pick tulip fields, tulip crown photo opportunities, bouquet sales, food trucks, covered picnic areas, children’s games, school field trips and discounted nights for Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley and Mission residents.

Bloom was founded by Alexis Warmerdam, a third-generation Canadian tulip farmer and fourth-generation bulb grower with Lakeland Flowers, and a strong advocate for young B.C. farmers.

Born and raised in Abbotsford, Warmerdam grew up playing in the flower fields on the family farm that her Dutch immigrant grandparents founded in 1974.

It was her grandfather and father who helped to cultivate Warmerdam’s farming skills and deep appreciation for Dutch horticultural methods.

Bloom opens April 9 and runs daily from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online starting April 3 at abbotsfordtulipfestival.ca.
