Abbotsford's Gallery 7 Theatre has announced they will be holding auditions for its December production of Parfumerie at the theatre's rehearsal hall on Wednesday, Sept. 18 starting at 6:00 p.m.
Parfumerie is adapted for the stage by E.P. Dowdall from the Hungarian play Illatszertar and inspired both the movie You've Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks and the Broadway musical She Loves Me.
"Christmas shows are becoming a tradition here at Gallery 7 Theatre," stated Ken Hildebrandt, Gallery 7 Theatre's Managing Artistic Director. "We're thrilled to continue that tradition with this heartwarming tale about love, forgiveness, managing priorities and the blessing of second chances. I think audiences are in for a real holiday treat with this show."
The setting for the play is Christmastime in Budapest, Hungary in 1937. George works in a parfumerie and just before the holiday his boss suddenly fires him for mistakenly believing he’s having an affair with the boss’ unfaithful wife. Meanwhile, George’s actual love life is thrown into chaos when he discovers the stranger he has been corresponding with by mail is none other than Amaila, a co-worker he constantly fights with. For the employees of the parfumerie, only the truth can lead to a happy resolution in this old-fashioned, romantic Christmas tale.
Parfumerie will be directed by performer, designer and director, Sarah Green. Green recently directed Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberley for Gallery 7 Theatre and has numerous acting and make-up design credits to her name.
The show runs Dec. 13/14 and 17 to 21 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees set for Dec. 14 and 21 at 2:00 p.m.
Auditions are open to all performers ages 14 and up and will be held at the Gallery 7 Theatre's Rehearsal Hall, #100 - 34595 3rd Ave. For more information and to register, please visit gallery7theatre.com or call 604-504-5940.
