Abbotsford woman nominated for YWCA award

An Abbotsford woman has been nominated for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award.

Dr. Elizabeth Watt is among six nominees in the health and wellness category.

Watt was named Abbotsford’s Citizen of the Year at the Canada Day celebrations in 2013 and also received the Order of Abbotsford.

She was recognized for her contributions to several health-related community organizations.

Watt served as medical director of the Women’s Health Centre in Abbotsford and as a lead physician at the Abbotsford Youth Health Centre.

She has also volunteered in training doctors in dealing with the health  issues of the city’s most vulnerable citizens.

The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards honour 60 nominees in

10 categories. Recipients will be announced at an awards dinner on June 3 at the Westin Bayshore Hotel.
