Abbotsford will be basking in a purple glow this month.

The Purple Nights Lights campaign, designed to raise awareness of domestic violence, runs throughout October.

“This is going to be kind of cool,” said Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald.

He said the police station will be displaying purple lights but that’s not all. He said the community has offered its support as well.

“To our absolute amazement, we have close to 80 businesses on board.”

He said people will notice a “fair amount of purple” going on in the city.

While he is pleased with the response, MacDonald wanted to stress that this is not an Abbotsford Police initiative.

“We can’t take credit for it, we are just supporting it,” he said.
