The people of Abbotsford and the surrounding communities will have to wait a little longer to enjoy the popular Abbotsford Tulip Festival, with the organizers announcing that the recent string of cold weather had forced them to delay the opening date.
Originally scheduled to open to the public on April 5, the date has now been postponed until Saturday, April 12.
"But this is weather dependent still," explained organizer Lakeland Flowers. "Please watch our socials and check our website as we continue to make updates."
This annual festival includes 35 acres of bright and colourful flowers, with more than 100 varieties of flora spread out across the farm.
It typically lasts for three months, with April and May being the ideal months to admire the tulips.
There are a number of new additions to the festival this year, including photo-op decor such as four yellow brick roads, a pair of giant traditional dutch shoes, and a dutch shoe store.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is located just off of No. 4 Road in east Abbotsford, with more details available at www.lakelandflowers.ca.
