An Abbotsford student has taken second place in a contest held by Speak up for Mental Health.

Sarah Salmon was among three prize winners from across B.C. who took part in the #15seconds4change Instagram contest.

The contest was part of a campaign to open the conversation about what mental health is, reduce its stigma and recognize how it affects daily life.

More than 130 entries were received.

Salmon’s submission was a depiction of steps she takes to overcome stress and practise self-care.

“We need to be more aware, more receptive, and more involved in the change that is needed around our perception of mental health,” Salmon said of her reasons for entering the contest.

Salmon’s prize was an iPad and a Speak Up gift bag.
