Abbotsford student earns $10,000 scholarship

Jessica Warkentin of Abbotsford has been selected from more than 5,000 applicants as one of the RBC Students Leading Change scholarship recipients.

Warkentin is among six students from across Canada to receive $10,000 undergraduate scholarships. Another six medical and dental students received $15,000 scholarships.

In addition to the funds, Warkentin will join an overseas Me to We trip to Kenya, where she will volunteer with Free the Children.

She is currently enrolled in the social services diploma program at University of the Fraser Valley and hopes to earn a social work degree.

Warkentin aspires to become a counsellor and work in community development.
