Abbotsford Association for Healthy Aging (AAHA) recently worked with Save-On-Foods on Sumas Way to provide 58 waffle breakfasts to local seniors.

The breakfasts also included treats and Christmas cards and were delivered by volunteers wearing personal protective equipment.

Carol, one of the recipients, said it was a “wonderful surprise” to find breakfast outside her door.

“This insightful gift made me feel special and included,” she said.

The deliveries took place to ensure that seniors stay connected with AAHA during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group held a Seniors Social Cafe in the Park over the summer and early fall, and organizers say the feedback was “incredibly positive,” with participants saying how excited they were to attend, “to see familiar faces, and to do fun activities outside their homes.”

But due to COVID-19 restrictions, the winter social cafes could not continue in person.
