The Abbotsford Safeway is among the locations across Canada that have kicked off the Help Feed Ability campaign.

The campaign runs from June 12 to 28 to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada and Easter Seals Canada.

Customers who donate $2 or $3 receive five or 10 bonus Air Miles, respectively.

The funds go to ensure better nutrition and greater food literacy.

The campaign launch took place at the  Abbotsford Safeway on Tuesday and included Fran Gordon, who has muscular dystrophy, and Brenden Parker, a client of Easter Seals.

Gordon has benefited in the past from a Safeway mobility grant, which helped her purchase a modified van.

For the past seven summers, Parker has spent a week at Easter Seals Camp Squamish, a camp for kids with disabilities.

Last year, the local Safeway raised about $6,200 for the two organizations, and $964,000 was donated across Canada.
