The Abbotsford Police Department’s street outreach team (SORT) has organized a community cleanup in east Abbotsford on Wednesday, April 28.
The event runs rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and targets the green space between the railway tracks near West Railway Street and Gladys Avenue, where homeless people congregate.
The cleanup bring together service agencies that are providing support for the homeless community with individuals who have previously experienced homelessness.
Snacks will be provided at the end of the event.
Those wanting to participate should meet between 8:30 and 9 a.m. in the northwest corner of the Walmart parking lot. An area will be cordoned off with several large tents, tables and chairs – arranged apart to follow COVID-19 protocols – and there will be parking stall for volunteers.
Participants are asked to bring gloves if they have them.
