Due to the overwhelming response that the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) received to its free electronic destruction/recycling event on March 10, a second date has been added.

The event takes place Tuesday, March 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the APD headquarters, 2838 Justice Way.

The APD is partnering with the Electronic Recycling Associ ation (ERA) for the event.

People can bring old hardware such as hard drives, computers, laptops, phones, tablets, tapes and small devices storing potentially sensitive personal information and data, and have it securely destroyed or wiped clean and re-used.

Data storage devices such as hard drives will be destroyed using the ERA’s shredding machine to prevent it from being recovered.

COVID-19 health protocols will be in place for staff, and the department asks the public to wear face masks when near staff at the event.

Those who are unable to attend the event can visit electronicrecyclingassociation.ca for dropoff instructions and locations.
