St. Matthew Anglican Parish in Abbotsford recently donated a total of $3,000 to the Salvation Army medical clinic and the Archway Food Bank dental clinic.
The medical clinic will use its $1,600 portion to purchase a needed ultrasound doppler.
The clinic, located at the Centre of Hope on Gladys Avenue, is staffed by an on-site nurse and a nurse practitioner. Virtual medical care is also provided with some local doctors.
The clinic had more than 1,800 patient visits in the past year. It sees clients for addiction-related problems, injuries from street living, pregnancies of women who are not within the normal maternity care system, and general health needs such as monitoring medicines for diabetics.
It is one of the many services offered by the Salvation Army, which provided 92,000 meals to homeless and transient people as well even more meals for flood victims in 2022.

Their overnight shelter program provided over 9,000 bed spaces, especially needed in winter weather.
The $1,400 donated to the Archway dental clinic will provide support to many neighbours, including dental care on site.
Staff include dental administrator Christina De Mora and the volunteer services of dentists and dental technicians.
The clinic provides oral checkups and care to a wide range of clients, including seniors on fixed incomes who cannot afford the out-of-pocket costs for dentures.
St. Matthew parishioners support the work of the Archway Food Bank throughout the year. They also support world-wide needs with donations to the Primate World Relief Fund of the Anglican Church of Canada.
As well, many of the parishioners work as volunteers and as advocates for a wide range of community and national causes.
St. Matthew Parish Church is located at 2010 Guilford Drive.
