Six months after first announcing its unique passion project, local animal shelter Abby Cat Daddy has now revealed that it's one big step closer to finally making the thrift store and adoption centre combination a reality.
This multipurpose facility would be a first for the Fraser Valley, or quite possibly all of B.C., with it designed to help serve the community while also ensuring that the animal charity remains as self-sufficient as possible.
Abby Cat Daddy founder Logan Bryan recently revealed that after months of looking, the shelter had finally found the perfect location in Abbotsford for its ambitious new project.
"It’s central, accessible, and full of potential to become a vital hub for cat adoptions, community support, TNR efforts, and a super secret initiative we’ll be announcing soon," Bryan said.
However, acquiring this new space isn't a cheap endeavour, with Bryan explaining that Abby Cat Daddy is in need of some immediate financial support from the public in order to lock this place down and make massive progress toward opening the one-of-a-kind facility.
Covering the deposit, licenses, and essential setup adds up to approximately $10,000 to $15,000, which Bryan hopes the group will be able to raise sooner rather than later.
Once the thrift store and adoption centre combination is opened, the charity will use the thrift store profits to help pay for the building and the various services that Abby Cat Daddy provides, including the trap-neuter-return, last litter, and adoption programs, along with a possible future cat food bank.
"This project is about more than just a thrift store," Bryan said. "It’s a long-term investment in animal welfare, public education, and support for the families and cats of the Fraser Valley."
