Abbotsford Regional Hospital has received a new set of "practice stairs" for its surgical day care unit.

The surgical day care unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) has received a new set of practice stairs, thanks to funding through the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).

The equipment is used for patients following elective hip and knee replacement surgeries and supports the total-joint same-day-discharge project.

Manj Sandhu, physiotherapy clinical supervisor at AHR, thanked the foundation for its support.

"This will allow us an invaluable chance to teach and practise ascending and descending stairs safely with gait aids, giving patients and their families the confidence for a safe and supportive discharge," Sandhu said.
