The Abbotsford Hospice Society holds its annual Memorial Butterfly Release on Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year’s event is planned as a drive-thru at Holmberg House on Marshall Road. The registration of $35 includes a kit with memorial activities, snacks and a live butterfly for release at the location of your choice.

The butterfly is used as a symbol by many hospice societies world-wide. The butterfly symbolizes the transition between life and death. The caterpillar forms its cocoon and prepares to leave life as he knows it, to become a lovely butterfly.

Last year alone, 106 people passed away at Holmberg House. The Abbotsford Hospice Society has held the Memorial Butterfly Release since 2016.

The event is held not only for those who are remembering a love one, but for those who are celebrating life.

Limited kits are available. Register at abbotsfordhospice.org/butterfly.
