A very special Abbotsford neighbourhood is once again opening its doors — quite literally — for Christmas.

The Mt. Lehman Christmas Home Tour was first held in 2019, featuring six homes that have been used in Hallmark Channel movies. At the time, the homes in the area had been used for 20 of the holiday-themed films. Now, four years later, that number has skyrocketed to 50 films.

Six of the homeowners in the neighbourhood have joined together as a way to raise money for a cause they all are passionate about, with all proceeds going to International Justice Mission (IJM) Canada. IJM supports people rescued from human trafficking, and there will be opportunities on the tour to learn more and donate.

Donations range from a $12 blanket for a child just rescued to $5,000 for funding an entire rescue operation from start to finish, at the giant giving tree on the tour. The 2019 tour raised $100,000. This year, ticket sales have already raised more than $25,000.

Each home will also offer a chance for participants to hear stories of rescue through IJM.

There will be a professional barista donating her time to craft gourmet coffees that will be for sale at the “Christmas Cafe” along with home-baked goods. Santa will be available as well as a candy cottage with sweets for sale and a magical attic with a Christmas Lego train.

See inside Heronsbridge, Tuscan Farm Gardens, a modern west-coast estate, a country farmhouse, a European-inspired cottage, and a rustic barn, among other scenes along the way.

Tickets are purchased ahead of time by selecting a day and time to visit. They range from $10 to $30 depending on age, and more details are available to ticket holders. Tour times are available Dec. 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23.
