With the cold weather quickly settling in, an Abbotsford non-profit has teamed up with a local aspiring politician to run its first-ever blanket and clothing drive.
Give Back Abby is partnering with Sukham Gill for the fundraiser, which kicked off on Wednesday and aims to collect warm clothing and other essentials for unhoused individuals and Abbotsford residents in need.
"While we wish we could have started earlier, our involvement with various non-profit organizations has fueled our passion to give back in a more direct and impactful way," Give Back Abby said.
During the donation drive, the group will be accepting new items like blankets, toques, jackets, sleeping bags, underwear, socks, gloves, and more.
In order to donate, locals can send a direct message on Instagram to Give Back Abby or Sukham Gill to coordinate a time for the pick up of donated items.
"Your generosity will make a meaningful difference, helping to provide warmth and comfort during this season," Give Back Abby said.
Monetary donations can also be made by visiting www.gofundme.com/f/community-member-of-abbotsford.
The blanket and clothing drive runs until Saturday, Dec. 7.
