Five years ago, Lillian Visnoski of Abbotsford celebrated seven decades of life by going skydiving for the first time.

The event fulfilled a promise she had made to her son Rick Visnoski 20 years ago that she’d do the activity with him for her 70th birthday.

Lillian, whose birthday is June 10, completed the tandem jump in 2009 at the Abbotsford Skydiving Centre on Gladwin Road, joined by Rick and her grandson Colton, then 17.

Lillian repeated the thrill this year on June 29 for her 75th birthday, this time bringing along her good friend, Laida Arcilla.

Arcilla lost her daughter in a tragic car accident seven months ago and came across her daughter’s bucket list, which included skydiving.

Arcilla decided to fulfil her daughter’s list, starting with the tandem jump.

The pair were joined by Rick and his wife, Janet Fontaine-Visnoski at the Abbotsford site, now called Skydive Vancouver.

The group of four leapt from a height of 10,000 feet.

Lillian plans to continue the jump every five years.
