The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Abbotsford has donated $25,000 to the Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society (AHGSS).

A cheque presentation was held recently at the Eagles Hall on Essendene Avenue.

The Eagles' motto is "People helping People," and as part of this each year, the newly elected president chooses a local charity to support.

Terry Arnett, president for 2024/2025, chose AHGSS, recognizing the immense help these support structures can be to families – and have been to her own – in what is a very difficult time.

Located in the heart of historic Abbotsford, the Eagles recently celebrated 78 years in the community.

While the non-profit exists to help people in the community, they are also a social club with more than 400 members in the local chapter.

The Eagles Hall hosts darts leagues, weekly bingo and karaoke, among other fun activities. Membership is open to anyone of legal age. Call 604-859-5405 for more information.
