Abbotsford Community Foundation seeks applications for agri grants

Grants of up to $50,000 will be announced this spring

The Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) is seeking applications for its Agricultural Enhancement Grants program.

Brian Loughlin, chair of the committee, said the focus of the funding is “innovation,” with grants of up to $50,000 being provided this spring.

“We’re looking for projects that are designed to change something established, especially by introducing new methods, procedures, materials or products,” he said.

Loughlin said ACF has a particular interest in projects that involve innovation that benefits any agriculture sector in the Abbotsford area by increasing efficiency, capacity, productivity, profitability or sustainability.

During the last round of founding, ACF granted out more than $200,000 to projects that enhanced the agricultural industry in Abbotsford through education and advocacy.

The EcoDairy’s Science World exhibit on dairy farming was one of the successful projects supported previously.

Applicants are invited to visit abbotsordcf.org, where they will find a link to the guidelines for the program, which involves both a letter of intent and application process.

Those applicants whose letter of intent is given the green light will be sent the application package.
