Abbotsford is set to celebrate National Tourism Week from May 27 to June 2.

The city has seen record growth in the tourism sector over the last four years. The number of visitors staying in local hotel increased by more than five per cent and generated 26 per cent more revenue from 2016 to 2017.

“Abbotsford continues to see growth in revenue generated from overnight accommodations, with 2017 revenue outpacing the provincial average,” said Craig Nichols, Executive Director of Tourism Abbotsford, in a statement. “This is, partially, due to the many events that continue to draw visitors to our community – from sporting events to summer festivals, and the many concerts coming to the Abbotsford Centre.”

Tourism Week aligns tourism organizations, businesses, and other partners around a common vision: to support a tourism sector unencumbered by government policies and recognized for its contribution to the economy.
