Abbotsford celebrates 30th annual Berrybeat festival

There will be a weekend of entertainment and activity downtown during the Berrybeat Festival.

Downtown Abbotsford will be loaded with activities this weekend in celebration of the 30th annual Berrybeat Festival.

Fashion shows, musical performances and craft making will fill the streets of Montrose and Essendene on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.  and Sunday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Mac & Mango will host a fashion show on the main stage at 12:50 p.m. and another in their store at 2:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m., Launch Menswear and Lady Fern will be featured in a fashion show at the Bishop Centre.

Throughout the weekend, the Berrybeat stage will offer great music including gospel and rock and roll.

Dance performances by ACE Allstar Cheerleaders, Aerial Dance Academy, Dynamic Dance, Abbotsford Dance Centre and Giddha Dancers will also take place. And an interactive magic show by Ronald McDonald will entertain all ages.

Businesses from the historic downtown plan to join the festivities, including Sound of Music and A&D Music, which will be giving musical performances, while a garage sale will take place at Hidden Treasures.

Next door, Avenue Body Shop will host a show and shine car show and Hemingway’s Bookstore will            celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Enjoy a photo shoot at Bump to Baby, or a $5 foot detox or foot mud-wrap at Emotional Rescue following a square dancing lesson with the Abbotsford Seniors’ Association.

Parents will love tasting the award-winning wine at The Little Farmhouse in the City over lunch. Kids will enjoy the variety of craft and treat stations set up by Paper Nation Stationery, Legal Grounds Coffee House, JB’s Candy Shoppe, Neat Freakz and Abbotsford Community Services.

A free bike valet service will be available at the festival on the corner of Pauline and Essendene, with donations accepted for the Abbotsford food bank.
