Timothy Keis spent his summer at the Regional Gliding School on the Air Cadet Private Pilot Scholarship Course, earning his private pilots' licence.

A member of the Silverfox Squadron in Abbotsford, Keis was one of 36 cadets from across B.C. selected for the opportunity to get their private licence.

He was trained in just seven weeks to Transport Canada’s private pilot license standards on a Cessna 172 and a Cessna 152. The minimum age for this scholarship course is 17, while Keis is 18 years old.

He was trained with 11 other cadets and the successful students received their very coveted Cadet Pilot Wings and Transport Canada Private Pilot Licences on Aug. 15, presented by Judith Guichon, lieutenant governor of B.C.
