The 11th annual Peoples Drug Mart Walk for ALS takes place Saturday, June 11 in Abbotsford.
The event starts at 10 a.m. at Mill Lake Park, with the 5 km walk getting underway at 11 a.m.
Proceeds go to the ALS Society of B.C. to fund research and to provide support for those living with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
ALS is a fatal neuromuscular disease that affects a person’s motor neurons, which carry messages to the muscles. When these muscles fail to receive messages, they lost strength, atrophy and die, leaving the person immobolized.
