A $100,000 donation from TD Bank Group will be used for the building of a volunteer lounge at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford.

A $100,000 donation from TD Bank Group will be used for the building of a volunteer lounge at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford.

The donation was presented Thursday (Aug. 18) to Canuck Place CEO Filomena Nalewajek at the hospice’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Evening at Nat Bailey Stadium.

“We are honoured to present one of the first major corporate gifts to Canuck Place as part of its Extending Our Reach campaign to build a new children’s hospice in Abbotsford,” said Jim Kershaw, senior vice-president and regional manager of TD Waterhouse.

Canuck Place is part of the new Campus of Care project adjacent to Abbotsford Regional Hospital and also includes the Abbotsford Hospice Society’s adult hospice and Matthew’s House, a respite facility for children with severe disabilities.

The 30,000-square-foot Abbotsford facility is the second Canuck Place – the first is located in Vancouver – and will include 10 beds and five family suites. For more information, visit canuckplace.org.
