Two Abbotsford businesses have been named as top five finalists in the Small Business BC Awards.

eVision Media was named a finalist in the category of Best Business, while Imperial Custom Wood Finishing Ltd. is a finalist in the Best Employer category.

Winners will be announced during a gala celebration on Feb. 23 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Susan Friesen founded the home-based eVision Media in 2007, providing website design, graphic design, branding and more.

eVision Media was awarded the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in the category of Best Home-Based Business in 2016.

Imperial Custom Wood Finishing began in 2005, and promotes an inclusive environment, sponsors community events, works with the homeless, and treats staff to spa days and other special days throughout the year.

The Small Business BC Awards is the largest small business awards competition in the province.

The awards are a celebration of the contributions small business owners make to their local communities and to the global economy.

This year’s program attracted more than 600 nominations in 10 categories.

The businesses with the highest number of votes in each category were asked to complete an extended application to determine the top five finalists. They now face a panel of judges to determine the final winners.

Winners receive a trophy, $1,500 and a one-year all-access pass to Small Business BC seminars.
